….to educate Members of Congress about fire and life safety issues.
Whether you are a member of the fire and emergency services, a public safety coalition, or the fire service industry, the United States Congress is more aware of your concerns because of the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI). Established in 1989 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute, CFSI is designed to educate members of Congress about the needs and challenges of our nation’s fire and emergency services to help them understand how the federal government can support the needs of our local first responders.
CFSI Board of Directors
The Board of Directors at the Congressional Fire Services Institute consists of esteemed leaders from the fire and emergency services sector. Their expertise drives our mission to advocate and enhance fire services through policy, education, and leadership on a national scale.
The dedicated staff at the Congressional Fire Services Institute are the cornerstone of our operations. With a diverse range of expertise in fire safety, policy, and education, our team works tirelessly to support our mission. They coordinate closely with our board of directors, stakeholders, and policymakers to ensure that the voices of fire and emergency services are heard at every level of government.
The strength of CFSI is its National Advisory Committee (NAC). Composed of more than 35 trade groups, issue organizations, and professional associations including the leading fire and emergency services organizations in the country, the NAC provides a forum where the national organizations conduct discussions and develop consensus on important national fire and emergency services issues. During a meeting, any NAC member can submit a resolution that seeks CFSI’s support on an issue. If the NAC approves the resolution, it is presented to the CFSI Board of Directors for final approval.
