(September 30, 2016) – On Wednesday, September 28th, the leadership of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus presented the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation with 112 American flags that have been flown over the United States Capitol Building.  The flags will be presented to survivors of the firefighters being honored at the 35th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday, October 9th.

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-9), the current chairman of the Fire Caucus, and Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-5), represented the leadership of the Fire Caucus at the ceremony.  The members of Congress were joined by Chief Ernie Mitchell, the United States Fire Administrator.  Following the presentation, the flags were placed on a fire engine and escorted by a motorcade to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Chapel in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  The flags will be displayed in the chapel until the memorial service.
