WASHINGTON, DC (February 7, 2025) The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) is pleased to announce that Congressman John Larson (CT) has been selected by the leadership of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus to serve as a co-chair. Congressman Larson assumes the position following the loss of Congressman Bill Pascrell (NJ), a long-time co-chair and champion of the fire service.
Congressman Larson has been representing Connecticutās 1st Congressional District since 1999. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Congressman Larson has been a strong champion for fire and emergency services priorities.Ā
With a strong focus on common sense and bipartisanship, Congressman Larson has worked hard with his colleagues across the aisle to support local fire departments in Connecticut and across the country. In the last Congress, Congressman Larson supported vital fire service legislation, including the Fire Grants and Safety Act, which reauthorized AFG, SAFER, and USFA, and the Firefighter Cancer Registry Reauthorization Act, which reauthorized the National Firefighter Registry that tracks cancer in the fire service.
The Congressional Fire Services Institute is pleased to welcome Congressman John Larson as a co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus. Congressman Larson has been a steadfast advocate for the fire and emergency services, championing critical initiatives that protect our firefighters and EMS personnel,ā said CFSI Board of Directors President Jim Estepp. āWe look forward to his leadership and continued commitment to addressing the needs of the fire and emergency services.”
āI am glad to join the Congressional Fire Services Caucus as a co-chair and continue the great work of my friend and colleague, the late Rep. Bill Pascrell,ā said Larson. āAs the son of a firefighter, I know how hard our firefighters work every day to keep their communities safe, and I have been proud to deliver millions of dollars in federal funding to fire departments throughout my district to ensure they have the updated equipment they need. I look forward to working with Reps. Steny Hoyer, Mike Bost, and Brian Fitzpatrick and the entire caucus to continue to support these critical grant programs and deliver for our firefighters.āĀ
