Michaela Campbell

Director of Government Affairs

Michaela Campbell serves as the Director of Government Affairs at the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI), where she leads the organization’s federal advocacy on behalf of the nation’s fire and emergency services. In this role, she works closely with members of Congress, national fire service organizations, and the Congressional Fire Services Caucus to promote policies and secure funding that support first responders across the country.

Before joining CFSI, Michaela worked at the law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP as a Legislative Assistant, where she helped to advise clients on legislative and regulatory strategies involving trade, tax, energy, labor, and environmental issues. Prior to that, she served in the U.S. Senate in the office of Senator Susan Collins. There, she developed a strong understanding of federal firefighter programs, including the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER), while also handling a wide range of policy areas such as tax and retirement security, national defense, and homeland security.

Michaela received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Brown University. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to public service and effective advocacy, using her expertise in legislative affairs to advance the mission of CFSI and strengthen the voice of the fire service on Capitol Hill.
