WASHINGTON, DC (February 6, 2025) The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) is pleased to announce that Congressman John Larson (CT) has been selected by the leadership of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus to serve as a co-chair. Congressman Larson assumes the position following the loss of Congressman Bill Pascrell (NJ), a long-time co-chair and champion of the fire service.
Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act Reintroduced in the Senate

On January 23, 2025, Senators Amy Klobuchar (MN) and Kevin Cramer (ND) reintroduced the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act (S.237). This bipartisan legislation aims to protect firefighters and their families by ensuring that firefighters diagnosed with certain cancers linked to their service are covered under the Public Safety Officersā Benefits (PSOB) Program.

National Firefighter Registry Reauthorization Passes Senate, Headed to President’s Desk to Become Law

On December 4, the fire and emergency services won a huge legislative victory with the Senate’s passage of the Firefighter Cancer Registry Reauthorization Act (H.R.3821). The bill, which had previously passed the House by a huge bipartisan vote of 413-7 on March 6, 2024, passed the Senate by voice vote. It will now be sent to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
